About us…

Hello and welcome!

My name is Mari, and this is my husband Aaron. We’re the faces behind Poplar Homestead.

I’m a lifelong Alaskan, born and raised here, and my husband is from Ohio. We started homesteading in earnest on our small plot of land back in 2023, and we’ve enjoyed every moment of it. Lots of lessons learned and it’s been a fun discovery process!

I’m a newly graduated naturopathic practitioner, who’s finishing up her ND over the next couple of years. I’m also an herbalist, and love my work. On the side I do fiber art, and have been enjoying learning and expanding my skills. I quilt, and embroider and enjoy that as well. On any given day you can find me with our kids and generally enjoying my projects.

My husband is in the Air Force, and does carpentry on the side. He really enjoys woodworking, and learning his etching lazer and the 3D printer. He’s very talented and has a lot of fun with it. We very much enjoy teaming up and working on things together.

We hope to start sharing some of the products of our work with you soon. Everything we do is handmade here on our homestead. We endeavor to use Alaskan sourced materials for our work whenever possible as well, which often makes for a fun challenge! We’re excited to embark on this journey together, and to share that with you.
